This issue follows on from the previous two which should have been published as one issue but for some bloody reason couldn't be. To read them as they were meant to be read; go back two issues and read from there. Jay.
OK, so it's just been pointed out how long it is. I've heard that before.

Always look the part. People accept you on face value. Dress well without being a fashion slave. They’re sheep. Always look comfortable in your good clothes, like you always dress this way (which you should). You only get ONE chance at a first impression so make it good.

Speak well, clearly. You have to be understood and know what you are talking about. Trying to fake it is a big mistake. Either listen instead or say you don’t know. You’ll learn something, and that’s what you want.

Compliment people. We all like to be told we look good or have one of our talents recognized. Peple like people who like them.

With friends, tell them when they are really good at something. They’ll appreciate you more.

The whole idea is with all this is to treat other people like you would like to be treated. You wouldn’t like a person who dressed like a bum and was hard to understand when he said you look like a mangled goanna, would you?

You have started making your life in the future now. Correct any mistakes now because they’ll be harder or impossible to deal with in the future.

You are filming, writing or playing your life but things out of your control still happen. Prepare. IQTeens will help.

Tips part Two.

Hi, This is part of the previous issue. I've had a lot of trouble loading this, so I've broken it into three pieces. Can someone come up with a really user-friendly PC?

And girls, life is not hearts, flowers and love songs in the candle-lit glow of evening sunset. If you want that story line, go cry at a movie and then come back to dirty dishes and soiled diapers. Get it into your head – girls respond to emotion; guys respond to physicality.

Guys just don’t know what a girl means when she says “Do you love me?”

Do not write your life script like this – “They had triumphed over adversity. Joel took her in his strong arms, holding her against his warm chest. She could smell his manliness as the gentle breeze from the garden wafted across the balcony – their balcony. “Joel, never leave me.” “Darling, I’ll always be here for you.”

It’s crap! Sorry, but it is not like that. Write your life from reality.

Guys, women are the greatest and the worse things on this planet. Get a girl you think you could talk with for many years. Play around by all means but don’t get blinded by physical beauty or sex. The plain looking girls are usually the ones who develop good characters. They’re the marrying type.

Your life script also involves money. IQTeens will show you how to get it and develop your financial sense. Lots of teens begin successful mini businesses which develop into empires later. But most non-thinkers go to a job and are still working for a boss when they retire from old age. That’s not living. Start making your own money now when you can enjoy the game.

Don’t think about excuses. Start! Start jotting down what you can do. Now.

I’ll wait.

Remember that bit about helping others get what they want? You need people and you need people skills. This is a big job. It’s essential to your life story. You want to die with a lot of people at your funeral saying nice things about you, so learn people skills.

What are they? Look at somebody who’s got them and learn. It really is putting your self aside and taking an interest in them. Ask them questions. People like to talk about themselves and they’ll like you for asking.

If you want to be rich, hang out with rich kids.

If you want to be a great sportsperson, hang out with the good ones.

If you want to be in sales, hang out with good sales people.

If you want to be a winner with the opposite sex, hang out with the winners.

You get the message.

But don’t be so nice and agreeable that you put your personal life on hold. You’ve got a right to enjoy the riches of life so set about planning that life and be determined to get results. People will always get in your way but just sidestep them. As you become more successful, people will want to help you or hurt you. Recognize which is which.

Tips on Life.

How much are you in control? Your personality is set and really nobody can change it fundamentally, even you. It’s made up of genes and environmental influences from your parents to the area (suburb, country) you grew up in. What you were taught shaped your beliefs but how you reacted to those things was determined by your inner nature. Your personality was more or less in place at about age seven. But the finishing touches will be made while you are in your teenage years. You have a lot of control over this.

Maybe you don’t know it but you’re in a game. Or would you rather think of it as a movie or a book? Either way, you get to choose which way the plot will unfold. Whatever you do today will have some effect on your future. YOU are writing the story line from now on.

You don’t have total control, but not one of us does. Nevertheless you are the centre of your own story. That doesn’t mean you can rape, pillage, always get your own way and kiss yourself to sleep at night. Everybody else is the centre of their own world too. So if you’re going to get the best for you, you have to help others get what they want as well. Cooperation seems to be the best way to get lasting benefits out of life.

The world can be a rough place if we are all competing. Immoral, back stabbing, cheats make it even harder. For a time they get what they want but they make enemies along the way. One of those enemies is going to topple the ruffian.

The brute is the animal, the guy who hasn’t grown up, who doesn’t understand. He is simple so he goes for the simple way. He lets his frustration out on others with brutality. He is trying to write his own story but going about it the wrong way. Somebody else will write his story by taking the power away from him.

Laws. Teen relationships

Society has a lot of rules and laws; too many in fact. The rules change while you’re playing and nobody tells you them before the game anyway. It can be a mess.

You’re taught one set of rules by whoever you grow up with and obviously there are sets of rules used by other people that don’t match yours. You will believe the first set of rules whether they’re right or wrong because that’s what you were taught.

There can’t be impartiality in a one sided teaching. You have to realize this and weigh the evidence. But you can’t compare it to what you’ve been taught. It must be weighed against reality. Anything that is only opinion must be seen to be just that.

Just changing neighborhood can change the rules. Go to a different country and they change again. What’s good here can be bad there and vice versa.

There are different ways to dress, words to say or not say, manners to abide by, rituals to go through, and while a lot of it is made to ensure society runs smoothly, a lot of it is man made rubbish to protect the people who can’t handle change. Either that or they have a position of power and don’t want to lose it.

Some rules are necessary so we don’t have chaos. Imagine having no road rules. Everybody just drove where they wanted like shoppers walking in a busy mall. Yipes! We’d all end up with battered ball shaped cars.

Thou shall not kill is a rule but sometimes it happens without intent so we have rules about that too. When soldiers go to war we forget about the rule and encourage them to kill. What is right? When someone does kill and we sentence them to death aren’t we committing the same crime?

There are rules to protect the frail or innocent people in society. But often the police can’t do anything until a crime against these people is committed. By then it can be too late so what can we do?

Thou shall not steal is an obviously good rule but the punishment is wrong. If Fred steals Sue’s car and smashes it, he is put in jail. What happens to Sue? She hasn’t got a car. Putting Fred in jail is no use to her. Fred should be made to pay for a new car and all expenses on the way to getting it.

If someone burnt down a shop they should pay back the insurance company or shop owner for restoration.

Our prisons are overloaded with minor criminals and the most “freedom” loving country on the planet puts more of its citizens in jail than any other country. Something is wrong there.

There are a lot of corrections to be made in our legal system. The need for so many laws has to be reexamined.

By far the majority of people are law abiding and will take care of each other. We don’t need so many laws.

If you are thinking of a career in the legal profession or just want to make some changes, get active, because there is a lot to do.

Maybe you could bring up this topic in school to get some opinions or send a comment to the world via this site.

Laws really come down to “Do unto others as you would be done by”. In other words, treat people like you would like to be treated.

You can understand nuclear physics, calculus and quantum mechanics if you put your mind to it but understanding people is a whole new ball game. This really shows in romantic relationships.

To understand guys and girls we have to know that girls want romance and guys want sex. That’s only a general rule and it isn’t always true. But it is a good starting point.

Everybody wants recognition. Girls want to know how good they look, how well dressed they are. And guys, how manly or good they look. It's all a part of establishing self identity. Learn to compliment people. It will get you a long way in life. Take a real interest in people. We all want someone to talk to so ask questions. Get them talking.

Guys. Don’t get involved in being a girls’ best friend if you have sex on your mind. All you’ll get is hugs while she tells you about her latest boyfriend. Never treat a girl as a “lay”. You share sex. It is not a one way act. You do it ‘with’, not ‘to’. Understand the difference.

Girls. If you want to jump into bed with him do it reasonably early, after you know you can trust him, without being labeled as “easy” and then bind the friendship. Do not get pregnant. As much as you think you love him or the idea of motherhood; it can all come crashing down because of pregnancy.

Cultivate friendships with the opposite sex. It is the only way to learn about them.

Now this is important. If your partner doesn’t make you feel right or treats you like an object or slave, get out of the relationship! Do it as soon as possible! It doesn’t matter about the cost. It is better than spending your life in misery.

There are 6,000,000,000 people on this planet and millions of them are perfect for you. Socialize until you find one.

Don’t cheat or lie to your partner. Remember “Treat people like you would like to be treated”.

If it does happen (none of us are perfect); you have the nasty choice of telling them or making sure it doesn’t get known. If you do cheat, do it somewhere else, not in your own nest.

Overcoming boredom.

Ever get totally bored so you want to do something but nothing seems worth doing?

Lots of people do and there are different causes for boredom. Sometimes it is just doing the same thing day in, day out. Other times you feel full of energy but everybody else wants to watch TV or sit around talking.

Have you got pissed off and the boredom turns to annoyance and mild anger so you do something outrageous that you might regret later.

In school or at work or even at a party boredom can set in so how do you combat it?

I used to think we don’t live fast enough and there is good reason to think that. Our minds are capable of doing a great number of things when we are mentally aroused. Like reading, the faster we do it (mindfully) the more comprehension we have.

It’s easy to understand the people who live ‘on the edge’ with adrenalin rush as much as possible. But in spite of the dare devils that become famous there are a lot more who die early. It seems an extreme way to beat monotony.

Drugs often fill the empty place of ‘nothing to do’. It doesn’t have to be addictive drugs that can wreck your life; even alcohol can cause death or put you in a wheelchair for the rest of your life. It’s a high price to pay for a bit of stimulation.

While we can’t go sleepwalking through life, we must realize that quiet times are necessary. Deliberate quiet times can be very valuable. They allow you to analyze feelings and discover inner realms of yourself that would be ignored if your mind is always turned outward.

A lot of people who have trouble dealing with emotions feel unsatisfied with life and suffer from boredom. This approach is a great help to them.

One of the most important teachings in martial arts is to flow with the energy. In times of boredom let it roll over you and purposely become absorbed in it. Be curious. Where does it lead? Flow with it. By getting into it, it becomes a source of passive interest.

The more you get immersed in the feeling, the more you understand it and become its master. Centre your mind on the emotions behind the boredom and feel them. This is something like meditation. If you can identify your emotional state you can do something about it. Not knowing makes you a victim.

People get bored with repetition. The idea here is to introduce differences to the thing you are doing. Distract your mind by varying the job as much as possible. Make it a little more complicated so you can be stimulated.

Distraction in life takes many forms. Some people plow themselves into making more money than they can ever spend or join a cause fighting to save the wobble bird. They can get involved in religion because it offers companionship and leadership they need.

But the greatest investment of your time is in yourself.

1. Learn concentration by remembering a deck of shuffled cards or a list of thirty unrelated words. There’s a simple trick to that.

2. Learn another language. Which one is going to be valuable to you in the future?

3. Pick up some skill. Try typing, gymnastics, creative writing, a musical instrument, salesmanship, public speaking, teaching techniques, PC software writing, anything that will help in later life.

4. Pick up a book or course on logic. It’s a very valuable asset. Clear thinking will set you apart from most people who are misled by advertising, propaganda and just plain stupidity.

All of these can be seen as mere distractions but you are not liable to get lost in these as you would trying to make more and more money just for the sake of it. Your inner life is much more important than any external goals. It’s no use being the lonely rich man or hero. Having real friends comes from being one, so developing understanding of your self leads to understanding others. This brings real friends.

We live in a time of instant info and quick attention span snippets. Increasing your ability to focus for longer periods will enable you to get more done and greater value from studies. You’ll have the edge over other students and enjoy a richer life without boredom.

Starting financial life from school.

It’s probably appropriate to open with something related to the start of the school year.

No, it’s not graffiti 101. Most of that’s just defacing public and private property. But then a lot of modern ‘art’ is just crap too and the artist gets paid a fortune for it. Get smart. Get off the walls and onto canvas or board then learn to sell the stuff.

There’s a lot of money in art and if you can pull the right strings, you’re made.

If you have some original artwork you’d like to show more people, send it or your site name and I’ll advertise it for you. It’s free.

Now let’s get on to the idea of school. What’s it all about?

It’s there to give you grounding in a whole lot of different topics so you can make some decision about your future. And it should teach you how to learn for the future.

It should stimulate your mind to greater learning by getting you curious about how and why things work. The way to treat it is to take everything the teachers know and make it yours.

You’ll find what you’re good or bad at, so that’s an indication of the path you can follow in life. And it should be fun. We learn better if it’s fun or if we have a goal.

Oh look, that’s what I wanted to talk about!

Most people don’t have goals because

they don’t know what they want!

So they don’t have plans on how to get what they don’t know.

What are you going to do after leaving school? What’s your life’s passion? If you want to build the first lunar orbiting hotel resort, you’d better hurry because Richard Branson http://tinyurl.com/2h634j is beating you to it. Whatever you want – IT HAS TO BE CLEAR IN YOUR MIND.

THAT’S your GOAL.

The first step is to DECIDE.

Next is to make something happen. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

Most people won’t get past step one, let alone take ACTION.

You have to get information.

Fortunately the net can give you just about all you want but go to whatever source you can think of to get extra info.

Knowledge is power. You have to get info to MAKE A PLAN.

The plan is important but so is the next step. That’s ACTION.

Be sure of what you want because you are going to get it.

Your plan will change with circumstances but that is the way things go. Be prepared for changes.

‘Take action’ means to start right now. Scribble down what you want and describe how you can get it. That’s ‘decide and plan’ taken care of. Now do anything to start.

Let’s say you want to make a million dollars in 7 years. How; by selling real estate, as an interior decorator or internet marketer?

If what you want involves selling, start selling something. Get a weekend job where you can get paid a commission on sales so the more you sell, the more you earn.

Millionaires tell us the first $200,000 is the hardest. That should be your first big step up the financial ladder. After that you’ve learned enough to survive and have the buying power to be a bit player in bigger stakes. Be careful. There are always bad guys out there who want quick money by cheating you.

On this journey through life there are potholes and Gremlins and road signs pointing in the wrong direction.

Please, when you fall over a rock on the road, pick yourself up and push it off the road so those behind you don’t fall over it too.

We are all here together and working with each other is far better than fighting.

I remember a cartoon that showed a world in complete devastation. It had one heavily armed soldier standing with mad eyes in the middle of dismembered limbs, heavy black smoke, you know the scene. What looked like the last man on earth said, “I won.”

Plenty of millionaires and conquerors have died lonely or hated. What did they win? Be sure of what you want.

Two people working together will achieve the work of three people working alone. It’s a fact. Cooperation gets results so get along with people.

IQTeens hopes to show you the map so you can end life with no regrets except that there should be more time. It seems forever now but believe me; time goes faster as you get older. And you are doing that right now.

Use your youth before it runs out.

Hi and Welcome,

IQ Teens has been created as a separate entity between "grown children" and "young adults", because it encompasses some aspects of life that are out of place in either of the other categories. (IQChildren and IQAdult)

Thinking properly while coping with puberty, peer group pressures, religion, parental control, the search for the idealistic in a far from perfect world, can be difficult.

Most teenagers mature well and this blog is meant to further that development by providing reliable info on topics that they maybe haven't considered yet. Many topics are usually not fully explained because of social taboos or ignorant parents, so we'll talk about them.

We want to discuss the problems and confusions too.

There is a great benefit in being anonymous when wanting to ask embarrassing questions. That can be done here. It is better to get info from someone who does know than rely on peer opinion as fact. The benefit of hindsight from having ‘done that’ is of immense value.

But this site has no "Do it this way!" philosophy. Hopefully you can make up your own mind with the real facts.
Remember, as a future responsible adult, you are the master of your life.

Why the high youth suicide rate in many affluent countries? External influences have their effect but it's the mental workings of the not-child-not-adult youth that need attention. Their thinking has to be understood. Too often adults forget what they did and felt when they were teens.

Even though the child was raised 'well', something can happen in youth that kicks all adult logic. Kids often can't express themselves clearly so here is a chance to talk openly to someone neutral.

That "rebellious period" can lead to a disastrous entry into adulthood. Teens don't seem to realize how many tears can accompany lessons in life. But then tears may be the only way to learn. It's all part of character building.

So how do they think and how can we understand even though we as adults have already been through it?
”Ours was a different time”. Well, Plato wrote about it back in 430 BC and if you think back, your parents said the same as you do now. Was ours really a different time?
Externally it has changed but essentially inside we face the same problems.

TV and PC games may have replaced the old games and various sports, the Colosseum. But we all face similar problems in each generation.

This blog should ideally be regarded as an older brother or sister, not as a stern parent. You are free to say or ask what you want provided you treat others with the same respect you want shown to you. Saying “That Sally is a shit faced bitch!” doesn’t get anybody anywhere so it won’t be published. If you gave some sort of reason for your opinion we might listen.

If you’re not part of the solution; you’re part of the problem.
We need to fix things, not complain about them.
Please think about it.
IQTeens is about making it right, finding the best way, so offer a solution or ask for one. Just complaining achieves nothing. A lot of adults do it.

The future belongs to those who build it.

You are building yours now. IQTeens wants to help. The idea is to point you in the right direction and let go of the bowstring.

Among the things I would like to discuss are drugs, money, health, sex, suicide, boredom, communication skills, getting a job, learning skills, marriage, being conned, being deceived, relationships, adults, responsibility, the nature of life, religion, the way the planet is run, your potential, logical thinking, achievement…

What do YOU want to know?As far as swear words are concerned; I don’t mind but make them relevant to your topic, not there to cover inadequacy in thinking clearly. Read this and then take out all the f***en swearing – “F***, why don’t they f***** take all the f***** cars off the f***** road and f***** make every f*****body ride f***** push f*****bikes?!” The swearing here doesn’t serve any purpose other than to make you look like an idiot.

“Fuck” has been in the dictionaries for decades. It’s in movies with the best actors and read in magazines so what is the wowser objection all about?

Another thing on the gripe list is “ You know kinda like what sorta people like um know what I mean kinda talk like yeah sorta well like this really like I mean you know mean and yeah hey?” WHAT? (Translation – “What do people who talk like this mean?) OK.

Last thing for now is “My car has a turbo triple charged multiple gauge sub woofer dip stick, so there!” Honestly man, go to a car forum. Being a Teen is a process of growing up, becoming an adult. “My Dad can beat your Dad” belongs in the kiddies’ playground.

There is a lot to learn but you can do it.
There are seven years between turning thirteen and turning twenty. These are going to be confusing, enlightening, embarrassing, rewarding, and so much else. Most of you will have sex, make love and some will even become parents. Others will find special friends of the same sex. Many of you will go through the pain of rejection or lost love.
Some will die.

Your future job, career, livelihood will take shape and your attitudes will start to solidify. If you start off on the wrong foot now, change it now, because later it will be much harder and sometimes impossible. For example; a criminal record will haunt you all your life. It doesn’t matter if you have changed since then.

Similarly the wrong choice of recreational drug may decide your fate, without your consent, and destroy everything you hoped for.

Getting on well with people is essential to a happy life but be careful. Being urged into doing foolhardy thinks is risky. Running a red light because your friends say so is stupidity. And those friends are stupid because they’re in the car with you.

Committing a prison-able crime may not kill you but young guys are “fresh flesh” for sexual pleasure in jail. And you’ll be passed around.

Risk taking is part of life but the ones who win have analyzed the odds and have a good chance of winning. You do not have to be a hero or legend.

A lot of adults stop learning and become victims of a ‘safe’ routine. These people are boring and afraid of losing their “security”. They’re not living; they exist. They’ve lost their imagination. You can learn to keep the spark of youth going through life by getting interested in diverse topics and people, encountering varieties of thoughts and beliefs. A mind that can change its ideas or accept new challenges is free from the prison of inaction and boredom. These minds stay youthful.

The habits to achieve this have to be developed now. In fact just about everything you make a habit of in these years will be there in your adult life. So get it right.

Hopefully IQTeens will help steer you in that direction.
